The Rant Challenge: How Do You Feel About Stereotypes?

How Do You Feel About Stereotypes?

I personally kinda hate stereotypes. They're mean, weird and not accurate.
Here are some of the stereotypes that I have heard:

Girls are weak/wimpy.
Blondes are dumb.
Canadians live in igloos and ride polar bears to school.
All girls like the colour pink.
Guys are slobs.

Girls Are Weak/Wimpy.

(from Lovetexts)

I don't find this true at all. Yes, girls are generally weaker than men but what about the wimpy part? How are girls wimpy? WTF?

Blondes Are Dumb.

I know a lot of blondes who are very smart and they get much higher grades than I do. Some blondes are very successful (ie. Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz.) and I don't think they deserve to be labeled 'dumb.'

Canadian Live In Igloos And Ride To School On Polar Bears

First, let me remind you. Polar bears live in the North Pole so we can't ride on them. We, the Canadians, live in normal houses like normal people and get to school by either car, bus, our feet or a bike. This is the stupidest stereotype ever.

All Girls Like The Colour Pink

(from The Unpopular Opinions)

As you can tell from my blog design, I do like pink. But not everybody likes the colour pink. Pink isn't a girly colour. It's just labeled as one. Pink is pink. Get over yourselves you guys and just accept it if you like pink!

Guys Are Slobs

Yeah. It's mostly true. Not all guys though. And who cares really?

The Rant Challenge: How Do You Feel About Disney Channel?

How Do You Feel About Disney Channel?

I like it. It's not what it used to be. I remember when I was little, they used to have shows like The Suite Life, Kim Possible, Naturally Sadie, That's So Raven, The Proud Family and Life With Derek. They don't show them anymore. Or if they do, they play them at 2 in the morning so obviously nobody is going to stay up to watch it.
I remember Life With Derek and That's So Raven the strongest. My 2 favourite shows and they're gone. My favourite part of Life With Derek was it was Canadian.

Don't get me wrong, Disney is ok now but it's stupid. The jokes aren't funny and they can't get the same spark they had befoere.

I recently watched the new show Austin & Ally and it was bad. Very bad. I don't like it. It's very desperate like. Like they know their shows are getting worse. I remember That's So Raven had this episode where the model wouldn't pick her and she said size and shape didn't matter. What are they teaching now? Definitely not life lessons.

The only new show that I like now is Good Luck Charlie. It's like Full House or Modern Family. They teach life lessons. It's the only 'normal' show about normal people not wizards or secret popstars. I liked Hannah Montana and Wizards Of Waverly Place but they're ending.

It's kind of like my childhood is ending.

The Rant Challenge: Do You Like Skinny Jeans

Do You Like Skinny Jeans?

Photo from Checking Corn

Anybody that knows me knows I wear skinny jeans on a daily basis. I love skinny jeans. It's not because I'm following the trend, it's because they flatter your legs, they look amazing and they can be worn year-round.

People say they feel really awkward and uncomfortable. I still love them though
because they come in different colours and they're the staple to my wardrobe.

The Rant Challenge : How Do You Feel About Bitchy Girls?

Yes, there is some swearing in this post, I don't usually swear but yeah.

How do you feel about bitchy girls?

Omgosh. I hate bitchy girls. They gossip, are in little cliques, complain a lot. Yes, I can be bitchy sometimes and yes, they use the excuse of PMS but generally bitchy girls are annoying and urghhh! I sometimes call girls a "BG" (bitchy girl.)

Photo via Live-ediTORIal by Tori Spelling

Example of a BG:
Scenario: We're texting.
So I'm texting them and I leave my phone down for a couple of minutes and when I get back, I'm loaded with a couple of these from the BG.

"OMG! Why won't you text me back? "
" Text me back, you freak!"
" Did you get my last messages?"
" Are you mad at me? "
" What did I do? "
" Why are you being a jerk ignoring my texts? Seriously? "

Really? It's whiny, immature and just plain out bitchy. Nobody likes to be bombarded with " Answer me! " and " Why are you ignoring my texts?"

Example 2 of a BG:
Scenario: The BG drops the f-bomb 10 times in a sentence.

"I loved the bleeping movie so bleeping much, I couldn't believe how bleeping amazing that guy looked in the bleeping moonlight with his bleeping abs.

That's bad. I used to have this guy in my class you would swear about anything, from an apple in his bag to why his pencil broke. Everybody stayed away from him because of how much he swore. He's one of my closest friends now but that's a different story. I mean, people swear to get a point across but I don't think anybody needs to swear that much.
Now, let me remind you of something. Some types of bitches are ok. Some people are strong, able to stand up for themselves and they know what they want. The bad BGs are the ones that will do anything to have power . They're manipulative. Moving on to....

Example 3 of a BG:

Scenario: Your out shopping at the mall with a BG and the BG advises you to buy the ugliest shirt ever.

Some BGs will willingly make their friends look bad in order for them to look better. They know the shirt is ugly. Everybody in the store knows the shirt is ugly. But the BG still wants you to buy it.
"No, it looks amazing on you!"
Yeah right.

 Example 4 of a BG:
Scenario: BG talk behind all your friends back about each other.

So let's say 'A' here is friends with BG. 'B' is also friends with BG. BG goes and talks about 'B' to 'A' about what a slob she is, how mean she is. Then BG will go talk to 'B' about 'A' about how ugly and how she hooks up with other people even though she has a boyfriend.
If they are your so called friend then why would you talk about her behind her back. WTH?
Please check out this amazing post right here.
If you are a bitch as I described in my Examples of BG, and you don't care, fine. But sooner or later, you'll be stabbed in the back as well. Just remember: Karma's a bitch.

The Rant Challenge: What Makes You Mad?

What Makes You Mad?

Lots of things make me mad. Snotty cashiers that give you "the look" , negative people, people that lie, sexist guys, that one hair that will never stay put and a lot more.

Let's start with the cashiers.
Scenario: I'm at the cashier with a box of tissues are whatever and she gives me "the look."
It's like she's trying to make me leave by staring at me. There's always this one cashier that likes to do that.I mean like, WTF, seriously?  I know that sometimes, it's the customers fault but really?I don't hate cashiers, I just strongly dislike that one.

Scenario:

Me: Aww. There's no more cake.
Negative Person: WTF? Who took the last bleeping piece of cake? Seriously? That bleep was my favorite bleeping cake.
Me: Can you please calm down?
Negative Person: WHY DON'T YOU BLEEPING CALM DOWN YOU BLEEP BLEEP.

Do you see what I mean? How can a person like that be someone you want to be around? There's this one guy in my class that sweats a lot and he over reacts so much. If you touch him by accident, he will FREAK out.

Scenario:
Me: Are you free this weekend?
A: ( 'A' is my example.) No. I'm going out camping. *Walks a couple steps away and pulls out phone*
A: Hey! I'm excited to catch dinner with you this weekend!

Now I seriously doubt somebody would do that but I couldn't think of a better example. I hate people that lie right to your face even when you have heard them admit that they're lying!

Scenario: Getting ready for the mall.

I'm getting ready to go out, right? Well, I comb my hair and spray it with hairspray. 2 minutes later, that one hair springs up and will NOT stay put no matter how much water/hairspray I use.

Melted Crayon Craft via Whatever (Meg Duerksen)

I found this link a while ago but I have not shown anybody this. Isn't it gorgeous? I love it so much and I tried to do it on a card but it sucked. You had to actually glue gun the crayons on.

Quickie Christmas Gift

Yes, I'm sorry that the picture quality is very bad. It was taken at night with a low battery and I'm very sorry.
On to the tutorial.
You will need:
-paint chip circles
-paperclips
- magnetic tape ( if you want. )
-gluegun

2. I chose the circles that I liked with the colours that matched and I glued them together.

3.I glueguned the finished circle onto the paper clip exactly there.
If you wanted, you could skip on the paper clip and attach a magnet on the back instead.

Stiched Christmas Ornaments

I had some leftover bristol board and cardstock so I decided to make some stitched ornaments. I drew out my template( tree or present) and I poked some holes using a pushpin. Simple right? Anyways I threaded the thread through the already poked holes and added a simple bow. Cute and easy!

Unique Giftwrapping Ideas

I'm finally getting into the Christmas feeling. Sorry I haven't posted. I've been really busy trying to finish buying gifts and setting up my tree.

Eco-friendly Gift Wrapping from Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart has some awesome ideas on how to gift wrap. I really like the Chinese newspaper and the maps.

Tinfoil Gift Wrap via The Gift Wrap Blog
If you don't feel like spending money on gift wrap this is perfect. Everybody has tin foil and it would look really good with some black or pink.

Kids Artwork Gift Wrap via Martha Stewart

This would be so easy and fun! Simple solution to write like a kid: Write with the hand you don't usually use.  Adorable. Martha does everything perfectly!

Miu-Miu Style Wrapping via Ambrosia Girl

The ribbon ties it all together and the glittery labels are so much fun!

4 days till' Christmas!

What Don't You Get?

Some guys are the biggest jerks ever. Right now, I'm listening to a Cody Simpson song (Not Just You) and I'm inspired to write this.

Nothing's Wrong
Yes, something is wrong and I want you to ask me.
Even some of my friends believe me when I say nothing's wrong. Like seriously, you screwed up so maybe you should shut your mouth and admit your wrong.

It's Just A Game
Chill out. You shouldn't care so much about your dumb game.
Umm, hello? When a girl says that she wants you to pay more attention to her than the game. Wake up.

Do You Think She's Pretty?
Stop checking her out.
Wow. Big no-no. Why would you check out a girl when you have your own girlfriend?

Are You Even Listening To Me?
Listen to me before I slap you.
The phrase says it all. You've been caught.

Do I Look fat In This?
Don't lie. Don't tell the truth either.
If your girlfriend ever ask you this repeat after me:
''It's nice but you don't look comfortable in it. "
Or something like that.

I'll Just Have a Salad
I am hungry as hell. Feed me!
Yes, she is hungry but she doesn't want to be a slob. She might steal some of your sandwich though.

5 Weird Things You Don't Know About Me

I'm bored and I have no interesting news or tutorial to write about so here we go!

1. I borrow books from the library every week.
It's not like the weirdest thing ever but I love reading books and I don't like buying them. It's a waste of paper and I will only read it once and that's it. I'll only buy books if I know for sure that I'll be reading it over and over.

2. My nails are always short. Forever and always. I just don't like long nails. They dig in and stuff. And I find it hard to keep them clean.  I do like painting my nails though.

3.I hate drinking water and milk. I mean like, I know that water has no flavour bu that's what I hate about it. Why drink water when you can drink juice? And milk. Urghh. Forget about it. Your drinking something that was squeezed out of an udder! Urghh.

4.I love to bake. My favorite is cheesecake. It's delicious. I should probably blog about cooking but I don't wanna give my secrets away!

5. I'm short. Like under 5'5.It's not like people tease me about it and I'm pretty sure my friends love my shortness considering that when I wear high heels, they're like " Woah! She's normal height now! " Yeah. I love being short.

Well. Now you have learned 5 weird things about me.

Organic Shampoos/ Conditioners

I love organic items. It's like a way of life. Organic and eco-friendly basically go hand in hand for me.

Macadamia Rejuvenating Shampoo

I live on this stuff.

  • sulfate and paraben free which is good.
  • adds moisture and protection
It has a good lather. It smells pretty good too, like light and fruity instead of that scrunching your nose up smell that shampoos usually have. It feels pretty light and free and hydrated which is nice for a change.  One thing though, it's some pretty expensive stuff but I got it for a steal at Winner's. Do they have Winners in the USA?

Australian Organics Conditioner

I got this from Winners too. This stuff is amazing. It's gentle, not too greasy and plus it's good for everyday use. The price is really good too. They have conditioner for different types of hair. I used the fine/limp hair one.
It has an ok smell, it's not the best but it's better than most of them.

Sukin Purifying Shampoo

This makes your hair feel really full and healthy. I couldn't help but keep on feeling my head afterwards.  It has aloe vera, nettle, horsetail and burdock. Very natural! The website says it helps alot with strenghtening your hair and stuff.
What I love about Sukin products is that they have no parabens, no artifical colours, no propylene glycol / no triethanolamine, no synetic frangrances, no animal deritatives and lots more. They also don't test on animals or use animal by products.  It's very natural and it all comes from fruits and plants.

I would say Sukin has the most natural products but all of them are good too.

Teen Book Reviews ( Part 5)

Ahhh!!! My last book post. I have decided something awesome though. I like writing book reviews so I have decided to keep writing them!! Yay!

Title: My Life Undecided.
Author: Jessica Brody
Age Group: Teen
Rating: ♥♥♥♥

My Life Undecided starts off with Brooklyn Pierce getting arrested. She gets in trouble very often. One day, she decides she wants to change her ways.  Brooklyn starts a blog and posts poll for her readers to decide her life. Because she has gotten arrested, she has to volunteer in a old folks home. That leads to a new storyline itself.

This book was so funny! I loved it so much! Imagine if I let you guys decide my life for me! The blogging part didn't take up the whole book which I liked. There were just little tidbits of the blogging. Another thing that was really awesome was that Brooklyn was like a real girl. She would make excuses like a real girl should.  Jessica Brody is now on my favorite author's list. ( which I will have to show you later.)

Title: Finally
Author: Wendy Mass
Age Group:  10+
Rating:  ♥♥♥♥

Rory Swenson has a list of things to do when she turns 12.
- Get a cellphone
-stay home alone
-get contact lenses
-and much more!
Now that the day has come, Rory gets into alot of trouble trying to complete what is on her list. Mix that together with movie star Jake Harrison filming at her school and what do you get? A big bowl of warm, funny and weird.

I know that the age group for this is young but I picked this book up because I was bored and stuff but I ended up really enjoying it. At the end, there was a big ending where all the loose ends were tied. It was also fun laughing about all her mistakes.
